Mitsubishi Motors Philippines updates the Lancer EX


2016 Mitsubishi Lancer EX

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) takes the compact sedan to a higher notch with an enhanced look of the new Lancer EX. The Lancer EX now gets a more aggressive front fascia and sports new features for both 1.6 GLS and 2 liter GT-A variants.

New Styling
What is eye catching about the Lancer EX is its sporty exterior. It now features a new front bumper design with an aggressive sporty look. The bumper now has chrome accents for the GT-A variant. Both variants also now have built-in Day-light Running Lamps (DRL) as standard feature. The Alloy wheels have a new design and comes in two-tone color finish, for the GLS variant it’s mounted in 16-inch Alloy wheels while the GT-A in 18-inch Alloy wheels. The refreshed Lancer EX is also equipped with a new multimedia entertainment system which has a built-in GPS, USB ready and Bluetooth capability for an enjoyable drive.

Engine and Transmission
Two engines namely, the all new 4A92 (GLS Variant) and the 4B11 Engine (GT-A Variant) are available for the Lancer EX.The 4A92 Engine is a 1.6 liter 16 Valve DOHC with MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control) using a lightweight aluminum block for better power to weight ratio efficiency. Engineered Mitsubishi technology that gives optimal performance all throughout the power band. The technology stabilizes combustion without sacrificing fuel efficiency and emissions. Maximum output of the slick shifting Lancer EX 1.6 MIVEC is 117ps at 6,000 rpm while maximum torque of 154N-m is achieved at 4,000 rpm via a smooth shifting 5-Speed manual transmission.

2016 Mitsubishi Lancer EX GTA

While the 4B11 Engine is a 2.0 liter 16-Valve DOHC with MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve Timing Electronic Control). The 4B11 2.0 liter engine uses a lightweight aluminum block for better power to weight and better efficiency. Maximum power for this EURO 4 compliant engine is 150 PS @ 6,000 rpm and maximum torque of 197 Newton-meter is achieved at 4,250 rpm. This engine is propelled by a CVT Transmission (Continuously Variable Transmission) with a 6-speed Sportronic shift mode plus magnesium alloy paddle shifters. This transmission delivers the best of both worlds by easing in heavy metro traffic and the occasional urge for spirited driving.

Safety Features
The GT-A has a class-leading seven (7) SRS airbags as it includes side, curtain and driver’s knee airbags to complement the front dual stage airbags. Standard with all units are the force limiter and pre-tensioner for the front seatbelts. Another noteworthy feature of this Lancer EX is the Adaptive Front Lighting System (GT-A only) or the AFS which throws a beam of light into the point of direction you are cornering to. The top of the line GT-A variant features High Intensity Discharge main lamps for better driving visibility at night. Accordingly, the GT-A model also features auto headlight and rain sensing wipers. The body frame has been built using RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) technology to reassure collision safety and utmost safety for occupants. Top of the line Lancer EX GT-A will get 15-inch ventilated discs up front and 14-inch drum-in-discs at the rear aided by 4-channel ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution.

The Lancer EX is available in the following colors: Sonic Blue, Amazon Red, Virgil Gray, White Solid, Carbon Black, Warm Silver Metallic (GLS only), Sterling Silver Metallic (GT-A only). Suggested retail introductory price starts at Php 848,000 for the GLS MT and the top of the line GT-A CVT is available for Php 1,235,000.
