Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. adopts Don Jose Elementary School

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) President and CEO Yoshiaki Kato signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) adopting Don Jose Elementary School under Department of Education’s (DepEd) Adopt-a-School Program.

The MoA detailed the following school projects that MMPC will sponsor: “OMG! Gulayan sa Paaralan”, a vegetable garden inside the school which aims to increase vegetable production and consumption by teaching the students some methods of sustainable food production; construction of small libraries along the school hallways which will encourage the students to read; construction of covered walkways to ensure the safety of the students as they move around the campus; repainting of roof of one of the school buildings; and sponsorship of family day celebration.

In his speech Kato said that “All the projects mentioned are designed based on the needs of the students of Don Jose Elementary School and MMPC hopes that it will help them have a fruitful academic year.” He also added that MMPC will continue supporting programs that will benefit the education sector.

DepEd’s “Adopt-A-School” Program, which started in 1998, was created to help generate investments and support to education outside the mainstream funding and the national budget. It encourages building of alliances between public schools and private institutions to improve the quality of basic education.
