Sun Cellular launches Pocket Sun Shop app for Android!

Further to growing over a hundred outlets of The Sun Shop nationwide, mobile phone operator Sun Cellular takes the customer retail experience into a whole new level and integrates it into the convenience and accessibility of an Android phone application called the “Pocket Sun Shop”.

“At the height of smartphones and data connectivity, where everything can be achieved at the touch of the fingertips, we think it’s timely to launch this special app to bring our products closer and let our customers get access to our services, anytime and anywhere,” says Ricky Peña, Senior Vice President for Postpaid, Broadband, New Business and Marketing Services of Sun Cellular.

This application can be downloaded for free at http://getit.gw.sun.net.ph/postpaid.apk using any data-connected smartphone that runs on the Android Operating System. Featuring a user-friendly menu, this lets users get easy access to information and registration links to any of Sun’s services and special promos.

“With the help of this app, our customers would no longer need to memorize keywords or number combinations just to register to any service - from the Sun Postpaid Power Up add-ons, mobile internet, and even IDD - everything can be easily accessed through the app.” Peña adds. “Also, they wouldn’t have to visit The Sun Shop anymore, say, just to inquire about their bills. They can do all these now by just logging onto the app through their Android smartphones.”

Peña also shared that this app contains a direct set-up to Sun’s load transfer service called the “Give-a-Load”. Using the app, subscribers can pick from the list of loads, enter the recipient number and then send corresponding load credits to any Sun Prepaid or Sun Broadband – Prepaid account.

The Pocket Sun Shop app also features seamless linking to Sun’s online-based 24/7 customer service channels like Facebook and Twitter. It also includes a complete directory of Sun’s hotline numbers and email address for inquiries and after-sales assistance.

At the press launch for this new app, Peña expressed that the Pocket Sun Shop app will also be a good supplement to the “Get It” app, an earlier innovation which was released by Sun to cater specifically to users of its value-added services. He also went on assuring subscribers, “Our customers can expect to be introduced to even more in-app services and useful features, as we’ll make it a point to upgrade these apps every now and then.”

Following these developments, Sun now eyes on partnering with Android device makers like Alcatel to have these apps pre-installed and bundled with Sun’s postpaid plan packages. “We would like our customers to experience the convenience of our services and maximize the benefits of these applications, as early as day one of their subscription,” Peña concludes.
