Globe Telecom extended its dominance in the country's mobile postpaid segment after its postpaid revenues hit P22 billion as of end-September this year, an 11% increase from previous year's P20 billion.
With this achievement, the company's postpaid segment continued to provide solid contributions to overall mobile revenues, with postpaid revenues forming 38% of total mobile revenues as of the first nine months of 2014. Globe mobile revenues reached P57.6 billion, a 6% year-on-year growth against the P54.1 billion revenues recorded during the same period last year.
Meanwhile, postpaid base as of end-September 2014 has grown to 2.2 million, a 9% growth from last year's 2 million. The continued success of the fully-customizable and best-in-class postpaid plans, together with the exclusive device offers and innovative deals, helped boost gross additions to reach 614,905 for the first nine months of the year, up 15% from 534,615 in the same period last year.
Issa Cabreira, Senior Vice President for Consumer Mobile Marketing at Globe, expects the postpaid business to end the year on a high note with sustained growth in revenues and customer base, on the heels on its innovative offers for the newest iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
"With our long-standing partnership with Apple, we are poised to provide a complete digital experience to consumers: best-in-class postpaid plans, exclusive privileges and the biggest rewards, and an extensive suite of value-added services and apps," Cabreira shared.
For one, Globe brought back its much-anticipated Reset program, which allows existing postpaid customers to renew or extend their existing account to get the iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus. This means that if a subscriber's 24-month contract is still not up for renewal to get a new device, a corresponding "reset fee" can be settled to get the latest devices under the same postpaid line. The Reset program is available until December 31, 2014.
Another exclusive offer is the easy apps purchase from the US iTunes Store using GCASH American Express Virtual Card, enabling customers to download and purchase apps, media, and games and charge it to their postpaid bill or prepaid load without using a credit card.
Customers can also enjoy the complete digital experience with Globe Apps, where they can store and access photos, videos, music, documents, contacts, and messages in one place with Globe Cloud; book seats and buy movie tickets with GMovies; enjoy great discounts and deals, membership privileges and redeem offers with GDeals; and check load balance, subscribe to promos, share load and manage account with GServices.
