Lenovo establishes smartphone presence in South Cotabato
Another Lenovo Mobile Exclusive Store (LMES) opens in Koronadal City, South Cotabato. This marks Lenovo's 21st LMES in the country and the first in the province of South Cotabato. The new concept store, located at the 4th floor of KCC Mall in Koronadal City, brings a wide spectrum of smartphones ranging from entry-level to high-end devices to consumers. The new LMES will be handled by Meetrovi Mobile Shop, one of Lenovo's official partners.
"Today, we celebrate the continuous expansion of our LMES nationwide and we are ecstatic to announce the opening of our first LMES in South Cotabato, uniquely called as the Land of the Dreamweavers. This is in accordance to the traditional T'nalak weaving, a masterpiece that is celebrated as a cultural and economical symbol of the province. Koronadal, its capital city, is the center of finance and business and has now gained a spot as the new seat of South Central Mindanao. Based on the updated Regional Development Plan (RDP) by the National Economic and Development Authority, the economy of the region is projected to reach a 10 percent growth by 2016 after it had reached 8.4 percent in 2013. This fast-emerging region is likely to increase its smartphone users who would require high-performing, affordable smartphones to keep their businesses going." said Michael Ngan, Country General Manager of Lenovo Philippines.
Ngan adds, "Lenovo has come a long way in bringing technology closer to people. Since we opened our first LMES in October of 2013, our brand has established a strong image as a trendsetter in the smartphone market in the Philippines. The opening of our 21st LMES in South Cotabato is a milestone that marks our continuous commitment to better serve our consumers."
Region XII is waiting to be explored with its rich culture and history that spans more than a thousand years. It is considered the home of different indigenous groups such as the B'laan, T'boli, Ubo, Manobo, Teruray, Sangil, Manguindanaoan, and Iranun. The region is rich in natural resources with its vast plantations of pineapple, rubber, durian, mangosteen among other fruits. Tourism is a boon as people would like to experience hiking in Mt. Apo, explore caves, jump waterfalls and if lucky, meet the Philippine eagle face to face.
The region was the fastest-growing economy in Mindanao in 2013 and ranked third in the country. The surge in the economic growth of the region equates to a Gross Regional Domestic Product value of around PHP 333.2 billion, according to the Philippine Statistic Authority-National Statistical Coordination Board for Region XII. Construction of commercial establishments peaked at 17.1 percent growth rate in 2013, a significant difference from the 6.4 percent growth rate in 2012. Communication, infrastructure and transportation also posted growths since 2012.
Dino Romano, Lenovo Mobile Country Head, acknowledges South Cotabato as a strong market for Lenovo. He said, "Koronadal City is considered as the most competitive small-sized city in the Philippines. It has now become an important hub for commercial and economic activities. The growth in the province and the region does not only imply a boost to the domestic economy but also a potentially self-sustaining unit. Opening an LMES in South Cotabato signifies our vision of providing smartphones to Filipino consumers anywhere in the country." Romano adds that the new LMES intensifies Lenovo's presence in the region and increases their ability to further reach out to potential smartphone users.
