Lenovo today announced the appointment of Dr. Harry Yang as Vice President and General Manager of Lenovo’s South East Asia (SEA) region.

Dr. Yang joins Lenovo from Acer, where he has served in leadership positions across Asia-Pacific for over two decades, including as Managing Director of Thailand, Indochina and Australia. His diverse achievements in Acer include rapidly expanding the brand’s presence in the region and successfully launching Acer’s operations in Myanmar and Vietnam.

Lenovo’s SEA region includes the markets of Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. Dr. Yang will replace Kong Meng Koh, Vice President and the company’s previous ASEAN General Manager, who will be taking on a new and critical role of driving Lenovo’s Enterprise Business Group in Asia Pacific.

“South East Asia is a critical region for Lenovo’s continued success in Asia Pacific,” said Roderick Lappin, President, Lenovo Asia Pacific. “Already, we have achieved tremendous momentum in these fast-growing markets with our PCs, tablets and smartphones, and will continue to pursue the tremendous opportunities in the region aggressively. I am confident that Dr. Yang’s strong leadership and deep experience in the industry and in this part of the world will be invaluable to accelerating our business growth.”

“Lenovo has achieved such incredible global success as the number one PC brand and an emerging leader in mobile devices, yet South East Asia still presents immense opportunities for growth,” said Dr. Yang. “I am honored to have this opportunity to work with the outstanding leadership and talented team at Lenovo to further grow its brand and standing in the market here.”

Dr. Yang will be based in Singapore. He has an Honorary Doctorate in Computer Science from Thailand Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University and a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Florida Institute of Technology.
