PLDT HOME strengthens leadership in fixed broadband market
PLDT, through its home digital services group PLDT HOME, remains the broadband provider of choice in the country, obtaining over 70% share of the market and adding value to its broadband service through the introduction of new digital services in the first quarter of this year.
“PLDT HOME’s fixed broadband has maintained the leadership status with its significant array of digital services and compelling content, providing home entertainment to customers with the most number of services running on broadband led by PLDT HOME DSL and PLDT HOME Fibr that serve as the foundation for value-added services such as Pay TV, video on demand, and live streaming,” said PLDT executive vice president Ariel P. Fermin, who heads PLDT’s Home Business and will soon lead Smart's wireless consumer division as well.
“We hope to dominate the fixed broadband market as we remain focused in serving the needs of our customer – the Filipino family,” Fermin noted. “We will continue to provide the strongest connections at home as we further move into the digital economy.”

Among the new digital services offered by PLDT HOME is the recently-launched Triple Play which makes it possible for PLDT HOME DSL subscribers to enjoy a three-in-one product bundle composed of the reliable family-sized Internet from PLDT HOME DSL, access to digital TV channels from Cignal and PLDT landline connection.
Fermin pointed out that “The PLDT HOME DSL Triple service, like all of our products and services, is designed to build and fortify the digitally connected Filipino home. It reinforces the home broadband leader’s growing entertainment content portfolio which already included live channels running on broadband and movie on demand offers.”
PLDT HOME DSL subscribers can enjoy over 100 digital TV channels from Cignal, including NBA Premium and Cignal-exclusive channel Disney XD when they upgrade or sign up for the Triple Play plan.
To integrate various forms of content into its products and services, PLDT HOME has bundled music, games, and e-books with its offers. Among the most recent initiatives are PLDT’s strategic partnerships with Disney, Cignal Digital TV, and Front Seat, the Philippines’ biggest online entertainment service that features top content from the world’s largest entertainment brands.
PLDT VP and Head of HOME Marketing Gary Dujali said the PLDT Group’s partnership with The Walt Disney Company Southeast Asia through Disney Interactive, its digital arm, enables PLDT HOME Telpad subscribers to access interactive e-books and online games that feature popular Disney characters like Cinderella, Queen Elsa, Mickey Mouse, The Avengers, and so many others.

A new addition to PLDT’s growing content portfolio is the Kids TV, launched recently in partnership with Cignal Digital TV, the country’s biggest pay TV provider. A streaming feature, Kids TV includes the top five entertainment and learning channels for kids, namely, Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Nat Geo, Nat Geo Wild, and Da Vinci Learning.
