Iloilo City opens the eagerly-awaited Iloilo River Esplanade to the public!

Iloilo City's eagerly-awaited newest tourist attraction and local recreational and fun area - the Iloilo River Esplanade - finally swung its doors open to the public last Saturday, August 18. Cutting the inaugural ribbon were Senator Franklin M. Drilon, Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao, Iloilo City Representative Jerry Treñas and Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor. Pacquiao was the city's special guest to the opening.

In a message during the inauguration, Mayor Jed said "the opening day of the Esplanade is an important date for all Ilonggos as we set the pace for the complex world we compete in."

"Yes, we are Ilonggos proud of our past and ready to work hard in unity for the present and the future of our city. This is the spirit that prevails today over our city and this is the spirit that is deeply engraved in the Iloilo River Esplanade. This is the same spirit of unity that will lead us into greatness now and in the years to come," Mayor Jed stresses.
