Iloilo City gets P1-M scholarship vouchers from TESDA

The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) turned over P1 million worth of scholarship vouchers to the city government for the implementation of the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP). More details after the jump.

“We are fortunate to be part of this TESDA program especially since this would mean sure employment to the scholars after their training to enhance their technical-vocational skills,” Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog said.

The mayor already instructed Technical Institute of Iloilo City (TIIC) officer-in-charge Maria Mathilde Octavio regarding the proper selection of scholars.

A total of 152 scholars will be chosen to undergo the program to be administered by the TIIC.

There are 15 available vouchers for electrical installation and maintenance, 70 for masonry, 47 for carpentry and 20 for automotive servicing.

All short courses have NC II competency classification and accredited by TESDA.

Octavio said the training can start anytime as soon as the city identifies the beneficiaries of the program.

The scholarship vouchers were turned over by TESDA provincial director Toni June Tamayo during the flag raising ceremony at City Hall Monday, Sept. 10.
