Iloilo City one of the recipient of an automated weather station from Weather Philippines Foundation!

Iloilo City, along with 22 other cities in Western Visayas, is the recipient last October 4 of an automated weather station donation from Weather Philippines Foundation, an Aboitiz Power Inc. firm. Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog, who received the facility, said the donation will boost the city’s disaster risk reduction management. More details after the jump.

The facility is composed of console, metrilog and integrated sensor suite or rain gauge that will read wind direction, volume and speed and weather humidity.

A total of 23 units were turned over by the foundation to cities in Panay and Negros islands, including Danao City in Cebu in a program held at the New City Hall penthouse where local government personnel of these cities also underwent a one-day installation and maintenance training. Each unit cost some US$2,500.

Mayor Jed said the the automated weather station will be installed at the solar-powered New City Hall roof deck.
