and built-in mouse buttons with optical finger navigation

Gigabyte is the next company to launch new products as part of this year’s CES, which took place in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Taiwanese outfit has reportedly unveiled a high-performance slate PC, called S1185, which is expected to hit the store shelves in March 2013. Described by the manufacturer as an all-rounder tablet that delivers “ultimate productivity for business or pleasure”, the S1185 is built around an Intel HM77 Express Chipset and runs on a Windows 8 (Pro) operating system. More about the Gigabyte S1185 Windows 8 tablet after the jump.

The 1kg portable device will apparently be powered by up to a third-generation (Ivy Bridge) ultra-low voltage Intel Core processor and the integrated Intel HD graphics card. In addition, users are provided with an 11.6-inch capacitive multi-touch IPS display of Full HD maximum supported resolution. An interesting feature of the S1185 is that it comes with integrated mouse buttons and an optical finger navigation sensor for “PC mode usage” (located on the sides).

Beneath the 1920-by-1080 pixels panel, Gigabyte’s latest slate computer houses up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, an mSATA Solid-State Drive with a storage capacity of up to 256GB and a 4000mAh battery. Connectivity-wise, the S1185 is equipped with 1x USB 2.0 and 1x USB 3.0 ports, VGA output, an HDMI interface and a built-in microSD card reader slot complemented by Wireless LAN 802.11n, Bluetooth 4.0 and a SIM card slot for an optional 3.5G antenna.

Reportedly, the tablet comes with a magnetically attached keyboard dock (sold separately for $129), dual cameras (5MP rear shooter and a 1.3MP front-facing web camera for video conferencing), stereo speakers and a Kensington Lock for enhanced security. Gigabyte’s S1185 will presumably have a starting price of $1000 (Php40,599).
