Globe posts record-high mobile revenues in 2012

Despite a highly saturated and competitive market, Globe Telecom ended 2012 with sustained growth on its mobile business after posting P67.2 billion in revenues, a 6% increase from previous year's levels. Fourth quarter 2012 mobile revenues likewise recorded a quarterly-high of P17.3 billion, a 5% growth year-on-year primarily driven by the strong performance of the telco's postpaid segment. More details after the jump.

Postpaid revenues ending 2012 rose to P22.8 billion, a significant 24% growth from P18.5 billion from last year's levels. On a quarterly performance, Globe Postpaid posted P6.2 billion in total revenues, a 7% increase from 3Q 2012.

The segment also showed outstanding performance in growing its subscriber base, closing the year with 1.7 million, another new all-time high. This is a remarkable 19% growth from about 1.5 million in 2011.

Full year net acquisitions also reflected the improving quality of acquired postpaid subscribers with 42% of regular postpaid net additions signing up for plans with monthly service fees of P999 and above, compared to 19% in 2011.

According to Martha Sazon, Head of Globe Postpaid, the consistent performance of the segment is attributed to strong sales driven by the best postpaid offers and deals, including the record-breaking iPhone 5 launch in December 2012.

"When it comes to postpaid, subscribers choose Globe and stay with Globe. The deep affinity with the brand has grown tremendously over the years with our customer-focused strategies. Customers are choosing us, staying with us, and as a result, we are winning the postpaid market," added Sazon.

After successfully launching the game-changing My Super Plan in 2010, Globe strengthened its customer service and after-sales support systems with a dedicated hotline, remodeled Stores, extensively-trained Stores personnel and relationship managers, and forged stronger partnerships with the world's leading device manufacturers for its postpaid segment.

The postpaid leader intends to sustain momentum in 2013 with the launch of the discounted extension data plan for subscribers with heavy mobile browsing requirements, and the much-improved and more customer-centric My Super Plan which will once again revolutionize mobile postpaid in the country.
