Smart nominated in the Best Place to Work category of the Asia Communication Awards

Wireless services leader Smart Communications (Smart) was recently named a finalist under the Best Place to Work category of the Asia Communication Awards (ACA), increasing to eight the numbr of nominations it has received from the prestigious award-giving body. More details after the jump.

Smart has garnered the highest number of nominations among Asian carriers, multimedia content providers, vendors, and other communication service providers shortlisted by the ACA, which is organized annually by London-based industry publication Total Telecom. Winners will be announced on June 30 in an awarding ceremony to be held in Singapore.

The nomination for Best Place to Work was based on the results of a survey the ACA had conducted among employees of different companies in the region.

This is not the first time that Smart has been recognized for its efforts to provide a healthy and happy environment for its employees. Early this year, the company’s Live Well, Live More employee program was given an excellence award at the 48th Anvil Awards. Live Well, Live More is a holistic wellness program that includes sports festivals, workout sessions, and wellness seminars.

“Employees are the most valuable assets of any company, which is why it is important for us to ensure their well-being. Healthy and happy employees are more positive and productive, while unhealthy lifestyles among employees often translate to a less engaged workforce and decreased productivity,” said Annette Santiago, head of Smart’s human resource management and development.

Aside from recognizing Smart’s workplace practices, the ACA has also shortlisted Smart for the coveted Operator of the Year award. After winning the award in 2011 and 2012, Smart now holds the distinction of being the only Philippine operator to be named a finalist in the said category this year.

Also nominated are Smart’s Live More campaign, for Best Brand Campaign; the groundbreaking mobile application platform SmartNet, for Best Content Service; the Jump Springboard Customer Education Program and Smart’s Customer Ambassador Program, for Best Customer Service Initiative; and livelihood initiative Project Zero and the expanded implementation of the Dynamic Learning Program, for the Social Contribution Award.
