LG Electronics to introduce world’s first Gallery OLED TV and Curved OLED TV in the Philippines

LG Curved OLED TV

A groundbreaking TV innovation will soon surface in the Philippines, and it’s the world’s first LG OLED TV. Launched globally on January 2013, the 55-inch LG OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) TV amazed the international market with its outstanding picture and sound quality encased in an astonishingly slim 4mm width and light 10kg weight.

LG took OLED technology a notch further on April 2013 when it globally revealed the Gallery OLED TV and Curved OLED TV, a 55-inch-wide and 4.3mm-thick TV which promises the immersive IMAX experience in the comfort of the viewer’s home. LG states that it had taken researchers more than five years to develop the optimum curvature to make the entire screen surface equidistant from the viewer’s eyes. This eliminates screen-edge visual distortion and loss of detail.

Groundbreaking Design
The world’s first curved screen by LG heralds a new paradigm of display shape and quality, leading a transition from the flat screen to the curved. The gently curved screen is the most optimal form for any display, shaped after natural human sight and vision. Previous modes of display have been restricted by technical constraints, and catered to the machine rather than the viewer. LG is the first to attempt ergonomical design for human comfort.

The Curved OLED TV is only 16.3kg-light and has a Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) to add additional strength to the beautifully curved screen. LG provides a wall mount (LG 55EA9800) specifically for the TV and includes thin transparent film speakers in the crystal clear stand, providing high-quality sound without compromising the TV’s seamless design.

Enhanced Picture Quality
The advanced OLED technology uses organic compounds that emit light directly when an electric current is applied. Unlike LCD displays, backlights are not needed, reducing power consumption and distortions even at extreme angles. Picture quality is enhanced with LG’s unique WRGB technology, Color Refiner, and Infinite Contrast Ratio. To perfect the experience, LG OLED TV also combines the company’s industry-leading CINEMA 3D technology with Smart TV capabilities.

“LG is looking forward to launching the world’s first Gallery OLED TV and Curved OLED TV in the Philippines,” Hoony Bae, Vice President of LG Electronics Philippines’ Home Entertainment Division, expressed. “Being a progressive country, the local market will surely enjoy getting a feel of the next-generation TV technology, allowing optimal TV viewing experience, comfort, and entertainment. LG will continue to establish innovations like this that will ultimately benefit the consumer.”

The LG Gallery OLED and Curved OLED TV will be available to the local market in the fourth quarter of 2013.
