On its fourth year of promoting environmental awareness among its members, Team Celerio Philippines (TCP), an accredited car club of Suzuki Philippines (SPH), chose a 1 sq. km area along the Marikina riverbank to hold its annual tree planting activity for this year. Held on August 29 in partnership with the City and Land Developers Inc. (CLDI) and SPH, and in cooperation with the Parks Development Office (PDO), this year’s tree planting was dubbed Pagtanim ng Puno, Alay Natin sa Tao at sa Mundo and was participated in by TCP members who also brought along their family members.

Marikina River, which serves as a catch basin for rain water coming from the mountains of Rizal province, has become one of the top names on the watch list of bodies of water in danger of overflowing during the rainy season in the country. It will greatly benefit from additional trees, and thus was one of the sites recommended by the Marikina PDO to Team Celerio Philippines. In 2012 and 2013, TCP held their tree planting in Pampanga, and in 2014 had a mangrove tree planting in Subic, Zambales.

According to TCP Treasurer Ronald Villaflor, the annual activity has become not just a venue to encourage fellowship among its members, welcome new members to the group, and provide a meaningful experience to participants, but also an initiative that gives back to Mother Nature. “TCP advocates caring for the environment and in so doing shares with everybody its mission and vision which centers on love for the environment, family and Sukuzi Celerio,” Villaflor said.

Team Celerio Philippines was founded on May 10, 2010 and is comprised of car enthusiasts from different walks of life who share the same interests. Their common love for the Suzuki Celerio—one of the brand’s most sought-after models--has prompted them to form a club. TCP conducted the tree planting this year in coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).

Mr. Hiroshi Suzuki, President of SPG, said: “We at SPH recognize the exemplary initiative of Team Celerio PH. We share their belief that the preservation of Mother Nature is the social responsibility of every individual, and laud this exemplary Suzuki member club as a model organization that all should look up to.”
