vivo V27e Full Review

Officially launched in the Philippines last month, the vivo V27e is one of the newest addition to vivo’s V Series. This new smartphone series boasts a first-of-its-kind technology in the industry, the Aura Portrait Algorithm, that will elevate users’ mobile photography game with a studio-level experience right in their hands.

vivo V27e Full Review

Since we are already finished with the unboxing and first impression of the vivo V27e, this review will further explore the capabilities offered by this smartphone and in turn, shall help you to decide whether this is the one you are looking for.

Design and Walk Around

For many years, many of its fans have referred to vivo as the brand that not only provides high-quality innovations but also visually-appealing designs. This time, the brand introduces a new Fluid Design. In my Glory Black variant, there’s a silky, glittering pattern if you looked at the phone from a certain angle. Also, I like this kind of finish because it is less susceptible to fingerprint smudges and scratches.

Aside from Glory Black, the vivo V27e is available in an eye-catching Lavender Purple colorway created through vivo’s photolithography process to achieve its glowing peacock feathers design.

In addition to its design, the vivo V27e weighs 185g and has a thickness of 7.69 mm. With its flat frame, the vivo V27e is sleek to look at and comfortable to hold.

On the front, the vivo V27e is equipped with a 6.62-inch FullHD+ (1080 x 2400) 120Hz AMOLED display. At the top is a centered hole-punch 32MP camera; the earpiece is quite thin and discretely etched above the display. Underneath the display is the fingerprint reader. A pre-installed screen protector is also found.

Found at the back is a rectangular-shaped camera module that houses a triple-camera set-up along with the industry's first built-in ring light called the Aura Light.

vivo V27e Rear Cameras

This replaces the usual camera flash and makes portrait shots clearer and more natural-looking. This feature also gives images a soft light effect usually found in photos done in professional studio setups. Here's what it looks like once activated.

Found on the right side are your standard volume rocker button and power button.

The top is clean with only the secondary noise-canceling microphone present.

At the bottom, you can find the USB Type-C charging port, downward-firing speaker, microphone, and hybrid SIM tray. A hybrid SIM tray can hold either a second SIM card or a microSD card for expandable storage. Sadly, there is no 3.5mm audio jack on the vivo V27e.

Display and Multimedia

The vivo V27e's 6.62-inch AMOLED screen comes with a Full HD+ (1080 x 2400) resolution with a 120Hz refresh rate, making it an ideal device for those who like to multitask with its smooth and fluid scrolling.

The AMOLED display panel produces vivid colors; viewing angles are good and the screen can automatically get bright even when used outdoors.

vivo V27e Multimedia

The audio quality of the loudspeaker is like your typical smartphone. It can get loud but no bass. There’s also some distortion when you maximize the volume. I recommend using headphones or an external speaker for better audio quality.

Camera

Rear Cameras

As with previous V series devices that offer top-of-the-line camera features, the latest vivo V27 series is packed with a first-of-its-kind innovation in smartphone imaging technology called the Aura Portrait Algorithm. This technology covers the three aspects of the light and imaging processing journey. First, is the built-in ring light called Aura Light, the second is the camera system, and last, is vivo’s full and exclusive line of Portrait Algorithms.

vivo V27e Camera

The vivo V27e boasts a triple-camera set-up—consisting of the 64MP F1.8 primary camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), Phase Detection autofocus (PDAF), and uses a customized Samsung ISOCELL GW3 sensor. There's also a 2MP F2.4 depth lens and a 2MP F2.4 macro lens with a 4cm shooting distance.

vivo V27e Camera UI

Quality from the rear cameras under bright lighting conditions is pretty great as you get vibrant colors and sharp detail, though dynamic range can be better.

The 64MP main camera with OIS brings the phone’s low light and night photography to the next level. The quality of the images taken is very impressive with plenty of detail, even with night mode turned off.

Front Selfie Camera

vivo V27e uses a 32MP front camera with an F2.0 aperture. The vivo V27e’s front camera produces good photos, especially in bright conditions. Background blurring for portrait selfies isn’t that perfect but good enough.

Video

For video, vivo V27e only supports up to 1080p at 30fps for the rear main camera and front camera. Videos shot with the main camera are pretty good, with low noise and a lot of detail.

Funtouch OS, Apps, and Security

The vivo v27e runs on Funtouch OS 13, based on Android 13 out of the box.

Funtouch OS 13 brings enhanced performance, more seamless animation effects, greater privacy protection, and other cool features. Pre-installed are the standard vivo and Google suite of apps, as well as some bloatware apps.

vivo V27e UI

In terms of security, vivo V27e is equipped with an in-display fingerprint scanner and facial recognition for unlocking the device. Both work well---the fingerprint scanner is pretty fast, and the accuracy is close to excellent. However, the face unlock feature can slow down in situations where there isn’t much light.

Hardware and Performance

The vivo V27e comes with a MediaTek Helio G99 processor. This processor is made using a 6nm process and is equipped with two high-performance Cortex-A76 cores at 2.2GHz and six high-efficiency Cortex-A55 cores at up to 2.0GHz, along with Mali-G57 MC2.

vivo V27e Gaming

The performance of the vivo V27e is buttery smooth, and resource-intensive apps have no problem at all. When it comes to gaming, it brings a smooth gaming experience and seamlessly supports a wide variety of games. The vivo V27e also comes with Game Boost mode, 4D Game Vibration, and a Liquid Cooling System.

The vivo V27e supports Extended RAM 3.0 technology that lets you expand your phone's RAM virtually by using the phone's internal storage. The device can make use of 8GB of its internal storage, giving it up to 16GB of total RAM.

vivo V27e About Phone, Storage and RAM

The vivo V27e is available in the Philippines in one storage variant - 256GB (26.65GB used out of the box). If you need additional storage, you can further expand the storage up to 1TB (microSD) via its hybrid card slot.
