nubia Philippines has launched the all-new nubia Music Pro, a music-centric smartphone, exclusively on TikTok last August 2 to 7.

The nubia Music Pro features a striking design inspired by vinyl records and offers capabilities not typically found in standard smartphones. It includes a 600% volume boost, a unique 2.1-channel stereo system, and advanced AI integration technology. Additionally, the device has Bluetooth Loudspeaker Mode and FM playback, allowing users to enjoy music without needing an internet connection.

In addition to its musical capabilities, the phone is powered by a Unisoc T7200 processor, has 4GB of RAM, and provides 128GB of storage. The device sports a 6.7-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery.

I was fortunate enough to get my hands on one, and I’m excited to share my unboxing experience. We will also take a closer look at the smartphone's features to help you decide if it meets your needs. So, without further ado, let’s begin the unboxing!

Unboxing the nubia Music

The nubia Music Pro is packaged in a black box designed with a music theme. The front of the box prominently showcases the phone's branding and highlights its AI integration technology. In the top section, essential details are listed, including the model number, IMEI number, serial number, color, RAM, and storage capacity of the device. Additionally, the left side of the box features four key highlights of the nubia Music Pro.

Upon opening the box, you will find the following items included: the smartphone itself, a SIM card ejector tool, a quick start guide, a warranty card, a 10W charger adapter, a USB Type-C to USB-A charging cable, and a silicone case. Please note that while the nubia Music Pro is designed with music in mind, it does not come with headphones, so you will need to use your own.

Design and Walk Around

The nubia Music Pro, like its predecessor the nubia Music, boasts a unique design reminiscent of classic vinyl record players. This elegant and artistic design features classic geometric shapes and a holographic texture on the camera module. The phone is available in two colors: Melody Wave and Pop Art. I have the Pop Art version, which showcases retro-modern geometric colors.

The front of the phone includes a large 6.7-inch HD+ display that comes with a pre-installed screen protector. Above the display, there is a centered hole-punch 5MP camera and a discreetly integrated earpiece that also functions as a speaker.

On the back, the phone features a dual camera module consisting of a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth lens, accompanied by a single LED flash. There is also a prominent speaker design that resembles a vinyl record. What differentiates the nubia Music Pro from its predecessor is the LED ring light surrounding the speaker area, which syncs with music for captivating visuals.

On the right side, you'll find the standard volume rocker and a red side-mounted fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button.

The left side houses a card tray that accommodates one nano-SIM and either another nano-SIM or a microSD card for expandable storage.

At the top of the phone, the dual 3.5mm audio jacks have been removed in favor of a secondary microphone.

At the bottom, you'll find a USB Type-C charging port, a microphone, and a single 3.5mm audio jack.

Display and Multimedia

The nubia Music Pro features a large 6.7-inch display with an HD+ resolution of 1600 x 720 and a 120Hz refresh rate, providing a smooth and responsive viewing experience. The display offers good color reproduction and decent viewing angles; however, it can be difficult to use in direct sunlight, even at maximum brightness.

A standout feature of the nubia Music Pro is its three full-range speakers, which support a 2.1 channel audio system. The large speaker located at the back can increase volume by up to 600% and includes an AI super volume algorithm along with DTS:X Ultra. Compared to its predecessor, the sound quality has improved significantly, allowing for clearer audio and more pronounced bass.

Other notable features include a built-in FM antenna for listening to the radio without wired headphones, a Bluetooth loudspeaker mode, and the ability to share music within nubia Music smartphones and NFC playback by Tag.

The device is also equipped with an AI Melody Breathing Light. The RGB light effects on the LED ring light create a breathing light effect that syncs in real-time with the rhythm of the music. Additionally, a screen light effect can be customized through the Melody Lights app, providing a surrounding light experience that also changes in response to the music's rhythm.

Camera

Rear Camera

The nubia Music Pro features a dual-camera system that includes a 50MP F1.8 primary camera with auto-focus, supported by a 2MP depth sensor to enhance portrait shots.

One of the key highlights of the nubia Music Pro is the Neovision AI Suite, which offers a range of AI features, including:

• AI Lightning-Fast Shot: Captures photos quickly on the fly.
• AI Image Dehaze: Clarifies photos by reducing haze.
• AI Magic Eraser: Easily removes unwanted objects with just a few taps.
• AI Blur: Creates portrait-style shots by blurring the background.
• AI Sky: Enhances the vibrancy of the sky in photos.

While the camera is not the primary selling point of the phone, it performs surprisingly well in bright lighting conditions. However, there is room for improvement in dynamic range in some situations.

In indoor and low-light settings, photos can appear muddy, even with the Night Mode feature turned on. Nonetheless, the quality is adequate for casual social media postings.

Front-Facing Camera

Regarding the front selfie camera, the nubia Music Pro is equipped with a 5MP fixed-focus front camera that has an F2.4 aperture. It includes standard camera UI features for selfies. For its price, the front camera delivers decent photos, especially in bright conditions. The background blurring for portrait selfies could be improved, but it's satisfactory overall.

Video

When it comes to video recording, the nubia Music Pro supports up to 1080p at 30fps for both the main and front-facing cameras. However, video recorded from the main camera may be shaky as it lacks image stabilization.

MyOS 14, Apps, and Security

The nubia Music Pro operates on a customized UI called MyOS 14, which is based on Android 14. This user interface is designed for easy navigation and comes pre-installed with Google's standard app suite, along with some additional apps that may not be necessary.

One of the standout features of the device is the Live Island 2.0, where users can view various notifications. This includes checking battery status, setting a countdown timer, recording voice memos, connecting earbuds, making phone calls, using the flashlight, and playing music.

In addition to its audio capabilities, the nubia Music Pro introduces a unique NFC door unlocking feature to the Philippine market. This allows users to tap their device to instantly play tracks, trigger playlists, or share music without the need for apps or Bluetooth connections.

For security, the nubia Music Pro is equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor embedded in the power button, as well as facial recognition for unlocking the device. Both security features perform well—the side-mounted fingerprint sensor is fast and accurate, while the face unlock feature may be slower in low-light conditions.

Hardware and Performance

The nubia Music Pro is equipped with a Unisoc T7200 processor, which is built using a 12nm fabrication process, an improvement over its predecessor, the nubia Music. It features two Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 1.6GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores also running at 1.6GHz, along with an ARM Mali-G57 MP1 GPU that operates at speeds up to 650MHz.

The nubia Music Pro shows a significant improvement over the original nubia Music in terms of performance. This device handles everyday tasks such as browsing, streaming, and light gaming smoothly. It offers decent gaming capabilities for competitive titles, like MOBA games, at medium graphics and resolution settings. However, users may experience occasional stutters and lags with certain apps and games. It's important to note that this is not a high-performance device, so expectations should be adjusted accordingly.

Additionally, the nubia Music Pro supports Extended RAM, which allows you to virtually expand the phone's RAM by utilizing its internal storage. It can make use of up to 4GB of internal storage for a total usable RAM of up to 8GB.

In the Philippines, the nubia Music Pro is available in one storage variant: 128GB, with 19.72GB occupied out of the box. If you require more storage, you can expand it further using the dedicated microSD card slot.

Battery and Connectivity

The nubia Music Pro is equipped with a large 5,000mAh battery. However, based on my experience, this battery lasts only about a day or less during light to moderate usage before requiring an additional charge.

In the PCMark Work 3.0 Battery Life Test, the phone achieved a duration of just 13 hours and 43 minutes. Charging the nubia Music Pro's 5,000mAh battery takes approximately 2 hours and 24 minutes with its 10W charger.

In addition to its battery performance, the nubia Music Pro includes standard connectivity features such as dual SIM (nano-SIM, dual standby), 4G LTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a USB Type-C port.

The nubia Music Pro offers significant improvements over its predecessor, the nubia Music. While it remains an entry-level smartphone, it includes many unique features designed specifically for music enthusiasts. The device boasts an appealing design, a 2.1-channel speaker system, and NFC music sharing. Additionally, it features a larger display, enhanced performance, a decent camera, and a long-lasting battery, all at a price of only Php 4,299. This is a slight increase from the nubia Music, but you gain many more features.
