MERCUSYS, a well-known provider of Wi-Fi products, is expanding its offerings in the Philippines with the launch of the MERCUSYS MC210 Smart Home Camera. This new product aims to provide a reliable and affordable solution for home security.

The MERCUSYS MC210 is designed for parents seeking an economical way to monitor their babies or young children, especially while they are working, sleeping, or away from home. It is also ideal for individuals seeking a straightforward and cost-effective way to safeguard themselves and their belongings while living alone in a rental apartment. Additionally, caregivers can use the camera to keep an eye on pets or elderly family members throughout the day. The camera offers the ability to share access with others and provides real-time alerts when activity is detected.

The smart camera features a 2K or 3MP resolution, AI-powered baby crying detection and notifications, a 10.8x digital zoom for clearer details, and a frame rate of up to 30 frames per second (fps) for smoother video playback.

I was fortunate to get my hands on one, and I’m excited to share my unboxing experience. We will also take a closer look at the camera's features to help you decide if it meets your needs. So, without further ado, let’s begin the unboxing!

Unboxing the MERCUSYS MC210 Smart Home Camera

The MERCUSYS MC210 comes in a red and white themed box, consistent with other MERCUSYS products. The front of the box displays the product along with four key features of the smart home camera. Around the box, you'll find details about additional features, the contents of the box, specifications, and information about the MERCUSYS app.

Upon opening the box, you will find the following items included: the smart home camera, a power adaptor, mounting anchors, mounting screws, a mounting template sticker, and a quick start guide.

Now that I have unboxed everything, I will take a closer look at the physical features of the device.

Walk Around

The MERCUSYS MC210 features a design similar to other Pan and Tilt cameras, but it is slightly smaller in size. I appreciate the design because it allows for discreet placement without drawing attention. The color scheme remains the standard white and black combination, but I would love to see MERCUSYS release an all-black variant for better discretion, especially at night.

On the front of the camera, you'll find the camera housing that contains a 3MP camera, four infrared LEDs, a microphone, and a status indicator.

If you tilt the camera housing upward, you'll discover the microSD card slot and the only button on the device, which is the reset button.

The back of the camera includes a speaker and a DC power port.

Below, there is information such as the serial number, model number, and MAC address. Additionally, a rubber foot is provided for those who prefer placing it on a stable surface, and there are screw mounting holes available if you wish to mount it on a wall or ceiling.

MERCUSYS App and Pairing

MERCUSYS seamlessly integrates reliable Wi-Fi with smarter surveillance into a single, powerful ecosystem through the MERCUSYS App. This unified application enables you to manage both networking and security devices from one platform. Enjoy an easier setup process, real-time control, and centralized notifications—eliminating the need to switch between different systems. The app is available for download on both iOS and Android devices.

To pair your device, plug it in and wait about 30 seconds until the LED indicator begins to blink red and green. Next, go to your phone's Wi-Fi settings and connect to the MERCUSYS device’s network (e.g., MC210_XXXX). After connecting, return to the app and follow the on-screen instructions to connect to your Wi-Fi network, name the device, select an icon, and specify its location.

Inside the app, particularly in the camera section, you will find all MERCUSYS cameras that you own or that have been shared with you. There is also quick access to detection modes such as Home and Away, as well as access to video playback and downloaded videos.

Once you select the camera you wish to manage, the dashboard provides various options such as the "Hold to Talk" feature, Pan & Tilt controls, and Alarm and Privacy modes. Additionally, when you click on the live view of the camera, you can access grid viewing mode if you have multiple cameras. You can also change the resolution to 2K, 720p for data saving, or set it to auto mode. The video mode can be adjusted for Day, Night (which activates the IR LEDs), or Auto, and you have the option to expand to full-screen mode.

In the settings, located in the upper right corner, you’ll find device information along with features such as different detection modes, storage and recording options, and video and display settings.

Video Quality and Frames per Second

The camera features a high resolution of 2K or 3MP (2304 x 1296) with an F2.0 aperture, ensuring sharp and detailed video quality. It offers a 360° horizontal pan-and-tilt capability and a 114° vertical tilt, providing complete coverage of any room. Additionally, the MC210 supports digital zooming of up to 10.8 times through the MERCUSYS app. Unlike fixed cameras or models with limited zoom capabilities, this camera allows you to remotely zoom in and focus on specific areas of your home without needing to physically adjust the camera.

According to MERCUSYS, the MC210 can achieve up to 30 fps for smoother, more realistic motion. However, the app settings currently limit the maximum frame rate to 25 fps. Despite this limitation, it still outperforms many of its competitors, which typically have frame rate limits of 15–20 fps.

The MC210 also supports night vision that offers sharp black-and-white clarity up to 40 ft, ensuring detailed visibility even in complete darkness.

AI Detection

The MERCUSYS MC210 features two types of detection: image and sound. For image detection, it can identify motion in real-time, recognizing human and object movement using smart AI while minimizing false alarms triggered by dust, light, or insects. For sound detection, it can recognize the cries of a baby nearby. This feature provides parents with instant awareness of their baby's needs, allowing them to respond quickly—whether they’re in another room, working, or away from home—without the need to constantly monitor the video feed.

Storage and Recording

You can save all your important moments to a microSD card of up to 512 GB or subscribe to MERCUSYS Camera Care for cloud storage after a free trial. You also have the option to enable or disable sound recording. Additionally, for scheduling recordings, you can choose continuous recording or set it to record only when it detects motion, a person, or a baby crying. You can schedule either continuous or detection-based recording at any hour of the day throughout the week.

If you enable recording, you can also activate privacy mode to block unwanted views with ease, ensuring you don't have to worry about personal moments being revealed.
