Google unveils the Nexus 7: Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Quad-core Tegra 3 processor for $199



Google has officially unveiled the much awaited Nexus tablet called the Nexus 7 at its 1/O conference in California. Built by ASUS, the Nexus 7 is the world’s first 7-inch tablet with a quad-core processor and the first device to come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS with Google Chrome as the standard browser. According to Google, Nexus 7 was built to bring you the best of Google in a slim, portable package that fits perfectly in your hand. More about the Nexus 7 specs and features after the jump.

As for availability, the Nexus 7 is now available for pre-order via Google Play and will start shipping in the middle of next month in the United States, Canada, Australia and the UK, but there’s no word if it will ever reach our shores. As for the price, the 8GB version will cost $199, while the 16GB model will cost $249.
