Pres. Aquino declares August 25 as special non-working day in Iloilo City in celebration of its 75th Charter Day!


Iloilo City

President Benigno S. Aquino III has declared August 25 which falls on a Saturday as a special (non-working) day in the City of Iloilo in celebration of its 75th Charter Day. The Chief Executive issued the declaration, through Proclamation No. 430 signed by Executive Secretary Paquito N. Ochoa Jr. on July 11, to give the people of Iloilo the full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies. More details after the jump.

Iloilo, as a chartered city, was formally inaugurated on August 25, 1937 after the surrounding municipalities of La Paz, Mandurriao, Molo and Arevalo were merged with the progressive town of Iloilo on July 16, 1937, by virtue of Commonwealth Act No.158 and to commemorate this historic event, the city government has lined up various events and activities.
