Rovio's original "Angry Birds" now FREE for the first time on iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad!

Rovio Mobile, best known for its video game franchise Angry Birds just unveiled a nice treat for all iOS users by making the original Angry Birds free and added 15 new levels for iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad. First noticed by Appsfire, the price drop represents the first time that the game has been available for free since its release in 2009. More details after the jump.

Angry Birds has been praised for its successful combination of addictive gameplay, comical style, and low price. Its popularity led to versions of Angry Birds being created for personal computers and gaming consoles, a market for merchandise featuring its characters and even long-term plans for a feature film or television series. With a combined 1 billion downloads across all platforms and including both regular and special editions, the game has been called "one of the most mainstream games out right now", "one of the great runaway hits of 2010", and "the largest mobile app success the world has seen so far".

Rovio has not yet provided any information about this yet so it is still unclear if this move is permanent or for a limited time only. Since Rovio also removed the free demo versions of the apps, which were limited to only a few levels.
