TechLife Pad Plus 12” Unboxing and Review

This summer, TechLife Philippines launched the all-new TechLife Pad Plus 12”. This tablet is the latest addition to its popular Pad series and is the successor to the TechLife Pad Neo. Designed for young professionals, students, seniors, and anyone seeking an affordable device, it offers excellent value for its price. With its LTE capabilities and large 12-inch display, the TechLife Pad Plus stands out among other budget options.

The tablet features a 12-inch 2K IPS display, quad speakers, 8GB of RAM with RAM Expansion technology, and 256GB of internal storage. It is powered by a Mediatek Helio G91 processor and comes with an 8,000mAh battery that supports 18W Type-C charging.

I had the opportunity to test one out, and in this review, I’ll explore the features and capabilities of this tablet to determine if it would make the perfect summer or back-to-school gift, especially with the start of classes approaching. Let’s begin with the unboxing process, shall we?

Unboxing the TechLife Pad Plus 12”

The TechLife Pad Plus 12” is included in the TechLife Summer Essentials Kit, which features a pouch, a towel, and the TechLife Smart Watch P1. According to TechLife, these items are perfect companions for productivity, creativity, and staying active all summer long.

Turning our attention back to the TechLife Pad Plus 12”, the front of the retail box displays the TechLife Pad Plus 12” branding. On the back of the box, you will find essential information such as the model number, IMEI number, serial number, color, and six key features of the TechLife Pad Plus 12”.

Inside the Box and Accessories

Inside the box, in addition to the tablet wrapped in white matte plastic, you will also find a user manual that includes the warranty card, a SIM card ejector tool, a USB-C to USB-A charging cable, and an 18W charging adapter.

Design and Walk Around

The TechLife Pad Plus 12” features a metal unibody frame with polycarbonate cut out on the right side, where the LTE antennas are located. It is available in three colors in the Philippines: Storm Grey, Sky Blue, and Moonlight Silver. I own the Moonlight Silver version and appreciate its design because it is less prone to fingerprint smudges and scratches.

TechLife Pad Plus 12" Design

The front of the tablet features a large 12-inch display, with an 8MP front-facing camera located at the top within the border on the right side when in vertical orientation, or at the top center in landscape orientation. Additionally, the device comes with a pre-installed screen protector.

TechLife Pad Plus 12" Front

On the back, there is an elongated camera module that houses a 13MP rear camera along with a single LED flash.

The left side of the tablet features one of the three microphones found on the device, while the right side includes the power button, a standard volume rocker, and a hybrid SIM tray that allows for the use of either two SIM cards or one SIM card and one microSD card.

At the top, you will find two speakers, and below, there is another pair of speakers along with the Type-C charging port. Unfortunately, the tablet does not have a 3.5mm audio jack.

TechLife Pad Plus 12" Charging Port

Along with its stylish design, the TechLife Pad Plus 12” is just 7.6mm thick. Its squared, box-like shape with rounded corners enhances comfort and allows for easy use with one or both hands.

Display and Multimedia

The TechLife Pad Plus 12” features a large 12-inch IPS display with a Full HD+ resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels. It boasts an 85% screen-to-body ratio, a refresh rate of 60Hz, and a touch sampling rate of 180Hz.

TechLife Pad Plus 12" Display

This tablet's high-resolution display offers good viewing angles and color accuracy. It can support up to 2160p resolution for videos on platforms like YouTube. Touch responsiveness is also good for everyday tasks, and the high 180Hz rate enables a decent gaming experience, suitable for both casual and slightly competitive play. While the brightness is sufficient for indoor use, direct sunlight may pose a challenge, despite a peak brightness of 450 nits.

TechLife Pad Plus 12" Multimedia

A key advantage of this tablet, especially in its price range, is the inclusion of quad speakers. The audio quality from these speakers is notably good, providing loud and clear sound for an enjoyable user experience. However, for an even better audio experience, using headphones or an external speaker is recommended.

Camera

Rear Camera

TechLife Pad Plus 12" Camera

The TechLife Pad Plus 12” features a 13MP rear camera with an F2.2 aperture and autofocus. The sensor is capable of capturing good-quality images, making it suitable for scenes, documents, work, and study, especially in well-lit conditions.

TechLife Pad Plus 12" Camera UI

Photos taken in bright lighting are surprisingly good. However, images may appear muddy at times for indoor and low-light situations. Despite this limitation, the photos remain decent and are suitable for casual social media posts.

Front Selfie Camera

The tablet includes an 8MP F2.0 front camera that provides satisfactory photos for its price, particularly in bright conditions. It is adequate for everyday activities such as video calls, selfies, and social media sharing.

Video

The TechLife Pad Plus 12” supports video recording at up to 1080p and 30fps for both the main and front-facing cameras. However, videos recorded with the main camera may be shaky due to the lack of image stabilization.

Android 15, Apps, and Security

The TechLife Pad Plus 12” comes pre-installed with the latest version of Android, featuring the TechLife Pad UI skin. The user interface is seamless, clean, and easy to navigate, providing access to all the updated Android features and security functions. It supports Google Gemini for improved AI assistant integration. Additionally, it offers a bloatware-free version of Android 15, which saves you the trouble of uninstalling unnecessary apps.

In terms of security, the TechLife Pad Plus 12” includes both facial recognition and a screen lock for unlocking the device. Both methods work effectively; however, the face unlock feature may be slower in low-light conditions.

Hardware and Performance

The TechLife Pad Plus 12” is powered by a MediaTek Helio G91 processor, which is a power-efficient 4G processor suitable for its price range. This processor is built on a 12nm fabrication process and features two high-performance Cortex-A75 cores operating at 2.0GHz, along with six high-efficiency Cortex-A55 cores running at 1.8GHz. It is complemented by a Mali-G52 MC2 GPU.

TechLife Pad Plus 12" Gaming

The device delivers adequate performance and can handle casual to moderate tasks smoothly. For gaming, it can support high frame rates and high graphics settings in popular multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) games like Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, while offering medium graphics settings for first-person shooter games such as Call of Duty Mobile.

Additionally, the TechLife Pad Plus 12” features RAM Expansion technology known as Memory Fusion, which allows you to virtually increase the device's RAM by utilizing a portion of its internal storage. This capability enables the tablet to effectively use up to 8GB of internal storage, resulting in a total of 16GB of usable RAM.

TechLife Pad Plus 12" About Phone, Storage and RAM

The TechLife Pad Plus 12” is available in the Philippines with a single storage variant of 256GB, of which approximately 19.90GB is occupied out of the box. If you require additional storage, you can expand it by up to 1TB using the hybrid SIM tray. It also supports up to 2TB of OTG storage for seamless file transfers between the tablet and USB flash drives or other compatible external storage devices.

Battery and Connectivity

The TechLife Pad Plus 12” is powered by a large 8,000mAh battery, which, based on our testing, can last nearly an entire day. However, in the PCMark Work 3.0 Battery Life Test, it recorded a score of approximately 8 hours and 52 minutes.

TechLife Pad Plus 12" Battery

This device features 18W Type-C charging, which is faster than the traditional 5W and 10W charging found in older model tablets. Despite this improvement, the charging speed for the 8,000mAh battery is slower than expected for a tablet in 2025, with an estimated charging time of around 3.2 hours.

On a positive note, the TechLife Pad Plus 12” can also function as a backup power bank. It supports 5W Reverse Charging, allowing you to conveniently power your accessories through the tablet's Type-C port, providing up to 5W of output.

Additionally, the TechLife Pad Plus 12” includes standard connectivity features, such as dual SIM (nano-SIM, dual standby), 4G connectivity with VoLTE support, dual-band WiFi 5, Bluetooth, GPS, and USB Type-C.
