Led by its fully-customizable postpaid plans and the most competitive smartphone offers, Globe Telecom's postpaid business sustained momentum with double-digit growth in subscriber base and revenues in the first quarter of 2013, with postpaid customer base nearing 2 million. More details after the jump.

As of end-March 2013, Globe postpaid subscribers totaled 1.9 million, a 21% increase from previous year's 1.5 million with gross acquisitions soaring to a record-high of over 205,000 in the first quarter, up 35% and 40% against the same period last year and last quarter, respectively. Net postpaid additions also increased to a quarterly high of over 122,000 during the period, surpassing last year's level by 44% and last quarter's performance by 71%.

The segment likewise showed outstanding growth in service revenues after posting P6.0 billion in revenues during the same period, up 14% from P5.3 billion in the previous year. Postpaid service revenues in 1Q 2013 account for 35% of total mobile revenues, up from 32% in 1Q12.

"With successive quarters of growth in subscriber base and revenues, Globe Postpaid continues to provide solid contribution to the company's overall mobile business," said Martha Sazon, Head of Globe Postpaid. "Postpaid customers have become more discerning over the years as they look for offers that are relevant and give them value for money. So when it comes to postpaid, subscribers choose Globe and stay with Globe."

Keeping momentum to grow its postpaid segment in the second quarter of the year, Globe strengthened partnerships with device manufacturers and offered the best smartphone deals. The telco gained exclusivity to carry the new BlackBerry Z10 LTE under its suite of unlimited surfing plans that provide subscribers with unlimited LTE surfing of up to 42 Mbps. The BlackBerry Z10 LTE is available for as low as P1799 monthly over a 30-month contract or P1999 monthly over a 24-month contract.

In April, Globe unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S4 and offered the newest Galaxy smartphone for as low as P1,599 monthly under the best-ever Globe My Super Plan 999 with P600 monthly cashout over a 24-month contract period, giving customers the most affordable and competitive device bundle offer in the market today. Under this best-ever offer, subscribers get unlimited LTE surfing of up to 42 Mbps plus free calls and texts.

In conjunction with its device launches, Globe further upped the ante in postpaid with the launch of the best-ever My Super Plan, where subscribers get more than what they pay for with postpaid plans now bundled with peso value amounts that are almost double the plan value. The peso value amount can be allocated among combos in the form of call, text, and surfing services, consumable amount, and gadgets. Subscribers also have the flexibility to choose their contract periods ranging from 6 months to 30 months.

With its breakthrough and revolutionary offers, Globe My Super Plan was awarded as the Most Innovative Telecom Project in the 16th Telecom Asia Awards, besting telco products from Japan, Singapore, Korea, and Indonesia to win the much-coveted award given to an innovative project with the biggest impact in the market.
