Gaida i57-B7000

JEHE (Shenzhen Jiehe Technology Development Co., Ltd) has just unveiled its latest high performance barebone mini PC - the I57-B7000. This simple "Do-it-yourself" barebones system is just what you need if you want to be in total control of the hard drive capacity and type, RAM, and expansion cards you wish to install within. It is incredibly portable with dimensions of 190 x 149 x 25.5mm, which basically means that you can keep it unobtrusively just about anywhere. With a simplistic design, this slim device even looks good.

The I57-B7000 is powered by an Intel Core i5-4250U dual-core Hyper threaded processor based on the latest Haswell U-series, which needs just 15 W TDP worth of cooling. This means that it has very low cooling requirements as it doesn't dissipate much heat even as it takes care of demanding computing tasks. The I57-B7000 can support up to 16 GB of DDR3L 1333/1600 MHz RAM in its two memory slots. A 2.5" SATA III/SATA II hard drive or SSD can be installed as well. For expansion, there are two Mini PCIE slots (Full length for mSATA III SSD and Half-length for PCIE/USB).

The integrated Intel HD Graphics 5000 supporting DirectX 11, is capable of handling moderate gaming. There are two types of video output ports: Display Port 1.2 and HDMI 1.4. The Display Port 1.2 supports PC resolutions up to 3200x2000, stereoscopic 3D (to supported display devices), and all HDTV resolutions including 1080p and UHD. It can also be used to connect multiple monitors in a daisy chain with a maximum total throughput of 21.6 Gbps. The HDMI 1.4 output supports 720p, 1080p, and 2160p with 5.1-channel digital surround audio, allowing it to be hooked up to a big screen Ultra HDTV and turn the I57 into a complete entertainment system. An optional remote control can also be added to make it more convenient to control.

In addition to digital audio via S/PDIF, there is analog audio to connect widely available sound systems and microphone. Network connectivity is provided via a Gigabit Ethernet port, while you can even add a half-length Mini PCIE Wi-Fi card for wireless connectivity. To connect peripheral devices, there are four USB 2.0 ports and even a Super Speed USB 3.0 port to connect supported peripherals at high speed of up to 5 Gb/s (10x faster than USB 2.0). A card reader is also present to allow for fast data transfer between the device and a microSD card. There is even a Serial port to connect legacy devices.

The Giada I57-B7000 mini PC is mainly designed for low-volume customer system builders, but it holds promising appeal for other consumer segments as well.

Giada I57-B7000 comes with the 1 year warranty and at the price of $599 (about Php27,000).
