League of Cities of the Philippines chooses Microsoft Office 365
As part of Microsoft Philippines’ CityNext initiative, the company has partnered with the League of Cities of the Philippines to deploy the cloud-based Office 365 in five pilot city offices in the Philippines.
“Cities, and the people that live and work in them, are the heart of our nation and Microsoft, through our CityNext initiative, works with city leaders to help build better cities through technologies that make it easier for governments to engage with citizens and businesses in a number of ways,” said Karrie Ilagan, General Manager of Microsoft Philippines, “By providing cities with access to technology solutions, global business partners as well as education and social programs.”
Solutions provided through Microsoft CityNext have addressed challenges in government administration, infrastructure, education, energy, public safety, tourism, and transportation among many others.
“Innovative solutions such as Office 365 can serve as catalysts for the continuous improvement of the quality of service local governments can deliver to their constituents,” said LCP President and Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista. “Sustainability and efficient governance are two of the things that the League of Cities of the Philippines aspires to achieve in the long-term. We feel that this partnership with Microsoft Philippines will bring closer to our goal.”
As part of Microsoft’s CityNext initiative, the League of Cities of the Philippines will be deploying Office 365 in city government offices of five pilot cities in the country. Office 365 is a full cloud service that provides users anywhere access to familiar Office applications. The top-of-the-line cloud service delivers Office applications optimized for the best experience across devices allowing government professionals to securely work and access information from multiple locations and devices. Governments also benefit from collaboration tools such as high definition video conferencing and organization-wide social networking that help keep all team communications and documents in sync.
The cloud-based suite will enable employees of the local governments to get work done anytime and anywhere, providing them with the productivity and mobility that can help them become more efficient. Office 365 will also equip these cities with the necessary infrastructure that will help them become more disaster resilient by enabling local governments to store and back-up assets on the cloud, allowing them recover them and continue operations when a disaster strikes. The solution is aligned with LCP’s goal of attaining sustainability through business continuity management.
The Philippines, through the League of Cities of the Philippines, joins the growing list of countries around the world that have been transformed by the solutions, network and programs of Microsoft’s CityNext initiative.
“As cities continue to expand and its populations increase, we need to work towards helping our cities and its citizens realize their full potential by providing appropriate tools and solutions that are inclusive and designed to help local governments deliver the best service they can give to their constituents,” concluded Ilagan.
