TechLife Pad Lite 8” Unboxing and Review
Last week, TechLife Philippines officially launched the latest addition to its Pad lineup: the TechLife Pad Lite 8”. According to TechLife, this tablet offers a competitive feature set at an affordable price, below 5k, making it suitable for casual productivity, learning, entertainment, and leisure.

The TechLife Pad Lite 8” quickly garnered significant interest from Filipino buyers, selling out on e-commerce platforms like Shopee and TikTok shortly after its launch. This response highlights how much fans value a reliable and budget-friendly tablet that meets their everyday needs.
The tablet features an 8-inch HD LCD display, dual speakers, LTE connectivity, 4GB of RAM with RAM expansion technology, and 64GB of internal storage. It is powered by a Unisoc T606 processor and comes with a 6,000mAh battery, along with a 10W charger. The device has a compact design measuring 8.5mm thick and uniquely includes a detachable stand.
I had the opportunity to test this tablet, and in this review, I will explore its features and capabilities to determine whether it is the perfect device for classrooms and everyday life. Let’s start with the unboxing process!
Unboxing the TechLife Pad Lite 8”

The TechLife Pad Lite 8” is packaged similarly to other TechLife tablets, but in a slightly smaller box. The front of the retail box showcases the TechLife Pad Lite 8” branding. On the back, you will find important information, including the model number, IMEI number, serial number, color, and six key features of the TechLife Pad Lite 8”.

Inside the Box and Accessories
Inside the box, you will find a tablet wrapped in white matte plastic, along with several accessories: a user manual that includes the warranty card, a SIM card ejector tool, a USB-C to USB-A charging cable, a 10W charging adapter, and a detachable stand.

Design and Walk Around
The TechLife Pad Lite 8” features a polycarbonate unibody frame and is available in two colors in the Philippines: Champagne Gold and vibrant Lilac Purple. I own the Champagne Gold version and appreciate its design, as it is less prone to fingerprint smudges and scratches.

The front of the tablet boasts an 8-inch display, with a 5MP front-facing camera located at the top right border when in portrait orientation. Additionally, the device comes with a pre-installed screen protector.

On the back, there is an elongated camera module that houses a 5MP rear camera along with a single LED flash. At the bottom, there is a detachable cover for the stand.

In portrait mode, the right side of the tablet features the power button and a standard volume rocker, while the left side remains empty.

At the top, you'll find a 3.5mm audio jack, a Type-C charging port, and a hybrid SIM tray that can hold either two SIM cards or one SIM card and one microSD card. Below these ports, there are two built-in speakers.

Aside from the design, the TechLife Pad Lite 8” is just 8.5mm thick and weighs 337.9g. Its compact size makes it easy to slip into smaller bags, making it well-suited for those seeking a tablet without adding bulk to their belongings. The tablet can be easily carried and navigated with one hand, thanks to its lightweight and size.
Detachable Stand
One unique feature of the TechLife Pad Lite 8” is its detachable stand, which makes it easy to prop the tablet on any surface. This is especially useful for those who want to study, read, or watch videos in limited space.

To attach the stand, remove the stand cover located at the bottom left of the back of the device and securely screw the stand into place. The stand also includes a magnet to prevent it from opening accidentally once closed.

Here is the TechLife Pad Lite 8” with the stand attached.
Display and Multimedia
The TechLife Pad Lite 8” features an 8-inch LCD display with an HD resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels and a refresh rate of 90Hz.

The tablet's display offers good viewing angles and color accuracy, making it ideal for browsing, streaming, reading, and casual gaming. While the brightness is adequate for indoor use, it may struggle in direct sunlight, despite achieving a peak brightness of 300 nits.

One notable advantage of this tablet, especially considering its price range, is the inclusion of dual speakers. However, both speakers are located on the bottom when the tablet is held in portrait orientation. The audio quality from these speakers is good, providing loud and clear sound. For an even better audio experience, using headphones or an external speaker is recommended.
Camera
Rear Camera

The TechLife Pad Lite 8” features a 5MP rear camera with an F2.2 aperture and a MetaSilicon MT510 sensor. This rear camera is designed to capture decent photos, making it ideal for sharing on social media or for scanning documents and notes for schoolwork.

In bright lighting conditions, the sensor can capture decent quality images. However, in indoor and low-light situations, photos may appear muddy and noisy. Although the camera may not fully meet expectations and has some drawbacks, the quality remains adequate for casual social media posts.
Front Selfie Camera
The tablet is equipped with a 5MP front camera that is identical to the rear camera, both featuring an F2.2 aperture and a MT510 sensor. Despite its price, the camera delivers satisfactory photos, particularly in bright lighting conditions. It is well-suited for everyday activities such as video calls, selfies, and sharing on social media.
Video
The TechLife Pad Lite 8” supports video recording at up to 1080p and 30fps for both the main and front-facing cameras. However, videos recorded with the main camera may be shaky due to the absence of image stabilization.
Android 15, Apps, and Security
The TechLife Pad Lite 8” comes pre-installed with the latest version of Android, featuring the TechLife Pad UI skin. The user interface is seamless, clean, and easy to navigate, giving you access to all the updated Android features and security functions. It supports Google Gemini for improved AI assistant integration and offers a bloatware-free version of Android 15, eliminating the hassle of uninstalling unnecessary apps.

Additionally, the tablet includes Google Kids Space, which allows parents to create a dedicated, kid-friendly environment. This feature provides insights on screen time, curates applications and content, and grants parents complete control over the device. These parental controls can also be accessed on other Google-connected devices beyond the tablet itself.

Regarding security, the TechLife Pad Lite 8” features a screen lock for unlocking, including options like swipe, pattern, PIN, and password.
Hardware and Performance
The TechLife Pad Lite 8” is powered by a Unisoc T606 processor built on a 12nm fabrication process. It features two high-performance Cortex-A75 cores operating at 1.6GHz, along with six energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores also running at 1.6GHz. This is complemented by a Mali-G57 MP1 GPU.

Although the processor is entry-level and designed for energy efficiency, the device delivers smooth performance for everyday tasks such as browsing, streaming, and light gaming. It provides decent gaming capabilities for competitive titles like MOBA games at medium graphics and resolution settings. Additionally, it handles basic tasks with reasonable loading times for office applications such as Microsoft Office and WPS Office for tablets.
However, users may notice slight stutters and lags with certain apps and games. It’s important to remember that this is not a high-performance device, so expectations should be adjusted accordingly.
Additionally, the TechLife Pad Lite 8” utilizes RAM Expansion technology known as Memory Fusion, which allows the device to virtually increase its RAM by using a portion of its internal storage. This capability enables the tablet to effectively use up to 8GB of RAM by utilizing 4GB of internal storage.

The TechLife Pad Lite 8” is available in the Philippines with a single storage option of 64GB. Out of the box, approximately 10.34GB is already used. If you require additional storage, you can expand it by up to 1TB using the hybrid SIM tray. The tablet also supports OTG functionality for up to 2TB, allowing for easy file transfers between the tablet and compatible flash drives or hard drives.
Below are the benchmark scores for this device:
- AnTuTu v10.5.1 – 237,276
- AnTuTu Storage Test v10.5.1 – 16,140 (295.0 MB/s Seq. Read, 238.0 MB/s Seq. Write)
- Geekbench 6.4.0 – 368 (Single-core), 1,313 (Multi-core)
- PCMark – 8,904 (Work 3.0)
- 3DMark – 996 (SSE – OpenGL ES 3.1), 982 (SSE – Vulkan)

Battery and Connectivity
The TechLife Pad Lite 8” is powered by a 6,000mAh battery that can last nearly a full day or even longer in real-world usage. In our testing with the PCMark Work 3.0 Battery Life Test, it recorded a score of approximately 11 hours and 7 minutes.

However, one drawback of this device is its 10W charging speed, which results in a relatively slow charging time. It takes about 4 hours to fully charge from 1% to 100% using the included charger.

On a positive note, the TechLife Pad Lite 8” can also serve as a backup power bank. It supports 5W Reverse Charging, allowing you to conveniently power your accessories through the tablet's Type-C port with an output of up to 5W.
In terms of connectivity, the TechLife Pad Lite 8” supports LTE connectivity and Voice over LTE (VoLTE). Additionally, it features standard connectivity options such as dual SIM (nano-SIM, dual standby), WiFi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, and GPS.

However, the TechLife Pad Lite 8” is now restocked in TechLife's official online stores.
Verdict

Recently sold out on various online platforms, this tablet demonstrates how much users appreciate a reliable and budget-friendly option that meets their everyday needs.
While it does have some compromises, such as its camera quality and internal storage, the TechLife Pad Lite 8” remains an excellent choice. However, if you're looking for a more powerful tablet with a larger display, consider exploring other options in the TechLife lineup, such as the TechLife Pad Plus 12”.
