vivo V60 Unboxing and Review

Recently launched in the Philippines on September 3, 2025, the vivo V60 sets a new standard for midrange smartphones, featuring significant upgrades over its predecessor, the V50.

vivo V60 Unboxing and Review

One of the most notable improvements is the new 50MP ZEISS-powered telephoto camera, which was first featured in my recent review of the vivo X200 FE. The vivo V60 features the same camera setup as the X200 FE, which includes a 50MP primary shooter with optical image stabilization (OIS) and an 8MP ultrawide lens.

Additionally, vivo has upgraded the chipset to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. The battery has been increased to a large 6,500mAh, supporting fast 90W charging while maintaining a slim body thickness of just 7.53 mm—making it one of the slimmest large-battery phones available.

In addition to these features, the vivo V60 boasts a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 5,000 nits. It also has an IP68/69 ingress protection rating, options for up to 12GB of RAM, and storage choices of 256GB or 512GB. Users can expect long-term software support with four major Android updates.

I was fortunate enough to get my hands on this device, and I'm excited to share my unboxing experience with you. We'll also take a closer look at the smartphone's features to help you determine if it fits your needs. So, without further ado, let’s begin the unboxing!

Unboxing the vivo V60

The vivo V60 comes in a high-quality box that is similar to its predecessor. The front of the box prominently displays the V60 logo and emphasizes the inclusion of AI capabilities in this model. On the back, you'll find important information about the device, including the model number, IMEI number, serial number, color, and more.

vivo V60 Retail Box

When you open the box, you will find the following items included: the vivo V60 smartphone, a SIM card ejector tool, a quick start guide, important information (including the warranty card), a 90W FlashCharge power adapter, a USB Type-C to USB-A charging cable, and a silicone case. Please note that the vivo V60 does not come with headphones, so you will need to provide your own.

vivo V60 What's in the Box

Now, let’s take a closer look at the device’s physical appearance.

Design and Walk Around

For the design of the vivo V60, the vivo has made some subtle tweaks to the V-series. The result is a device that looks familiar yet resembles a smaller version of the vivo X200 FE. In the Philippines, the vivo V60 is available in three colors: Berry Purple (which I have), Summer Blue, and Mist Gray. The Berry Purple variant, according to vivo, combines youthful vibrance with understated elegance. The Berry Purple variant appears stunning and luxurious in person. I appreciate the matte finish as it is less prone to fingerprint smudges and scratches.

vivo V60 Design

The vivo V60 features a dual-glass body with a plastic frame. It weighs just 200 grams and measures 7.65 mm in thickness. Despite its slim profile, the V60 boasts a substantial 6,500mAh battery, making it one of the slimmest phones in vivo's lineup to offer such a large battery. Additionally, it has an extremely narrow bezel that blends seamlessly into the background and curves at the back, ensuring a comfortable grip.

vivo V60 Front

On the front, the phone sports a large 6.77-inch FHD AMOLED display, which is protected by Schott Xensation Core glass and comes with a pre-installed screen protector. At the top of the screen, there is a centered hole-punch camera, while the earpiece, which also serves as a speaker, is discreetly positioned above the display. Moreover, the fingerprint reader is located beneath the screen.

vivo V60 Camera Module

The back of the device features a new camera module first seen on the vivo X200 FE, which includes a triple-camera system. On the right side of the camera island is a ring-shaped LED called Aura Light.

vivo V60 Volume and Power Button

In the right side, you will find the volume rocker and power button, while the top of the phone remains clean except for openings for the secondary microphone. An interesting addition is that the vivo V60 comes with an IR blaster.

vivo V60 Top

At the bottom, you'll find a USB Type-C charging port, a downward-firing speaker, a microphone, and a dual SIM card tray. Unfortunately, the phone does not have a 3.5mm audio jack.

vivo V60 Bottom

Additionally, the vivo V60 is rated IP68 and IP69 for dust and water resistance. The IP68 rating means the device is completely dust-tight and can be submerged in water up to 1.5 meters deep for up to 120 minutes. The IP69 rating provides enhanced protection against high-pressure water jets, contributing to its durability.

Display and Multimedia

The display on the vivo V60 is one of its standout features. It has a large 6.77-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2392 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate. The AMOLED display offers vibrant colors and excellent viewing angles. It includes a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, which automatically adjusts to maintain visibility in outdoor conditions, while the maximum overall brightness can reach up to 1,500 nits.

vivo V60 Display

Like its predecessor, the vivo V50, the V60 is equipped with dual speakers. The audio quality is impressive, and the volume can get quite loud. However, for an even better audio experience, using headphones or an external speaker is recommended.

Camera

Rear Cameras

The camera system has always been a standout feature of the vivo V series, and the vivo V60 continues this tradition, delivering professional-quality portraits with notable enhancements.

vivo V60 Rear Cameras

This device boasts a triple-camera setup identical to that of the vivo X200 FE, featuring a 50MP F1.9 primary camera equipped with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF), utilizing the Sony IMX766 sensor. Additionally, it includes a 50MP F2.65 telephoto camera, also with OIS and PDAF, and equipped with the Sony IMX 882 sensor. Completing the setup is an 8MP F2.0 ultrawide camera that has a fixed focus and utilizes the OmniVision OV08D sensor.

vivo V60 Camera UI

In bright lighting conditions, the rear cameras produce impressive results, showcasing vibrant colors, sharp details, and excellent dynamic range.

The vivo V60 also excels in low-light and nighttime photography, capturing images with great exposure, color accuracy, and substantial detail.

Front Selfie Camera

The front-facing camera boasts a 50MP F2.0 aperture with autofocus, using the Samsung S5KJN1 sensor. It captures detailed and sharp photos that accurately reflect real-life colors and natural skin tones. While the background blurring for portrait selfies is not flawless, it remains quite effective.

Video Capabilities

Regarding video capabilities, the vivo V60 supports up to 4K resolution at 30 frames per second (fps) on all cameras except the ultrawide, which is limited to 1080p at 30fps. Both the main and telephoto cameras, as well as the selfie camera, can record at 1080p and 60fps. The device includes Aura Light Portrait Video, which improves clarity in low-light situations. Additionally, it features Hybrid Image Stabilization that combines optical image stabilization (OIS) and electronic image stabilization (EIS) to ensure smooth video footage. Videos captured with the main camera are of exceptionally high quality, exhibiting low noise and rich detail.

Funtouch OS, Apps, and Security

The vivo V60 smartphone features a heavily customized user interface called Funtouch OS 15 (FOS15), which is based on Android 15. The design of FOS15 has seen significant upgrades, introducing new materials and resources in various modules, including static, immersive, and video Wallpapers, Themes, Icons, Clock Widgets, Fingerprint Recognition Animations, Call Backgrounds, and Always-On Display.

vivo V60 UI

The V60 incorporates Google’s integrated search tool and the Gemini AI assistant. Additionally, it offers a screen translation feature powered by Google Lens. Users can benefit from live translation during phone calls, as well as an AI Transcript Assist utility for summarizing spoken conversations. The gallery editor includes AI-powered functionalities that allow users to delete objects, remove people, and eliminate reflections.

vivo V60 Funtouch OS

In comparison to the vivo V50, which is eligible for three major operating system updates, the V60 is eligible for four major Android OS updates and six years of security patches. vivo assures that intelligent control over background tasks will guarantee smooth, lag-free performance for up to five years (60 months) without significant slowdowns. Furthermore, the phone comes pre-installed with the standard suite of vivo and Google apps, along with some additional bloatware.

Regarding security, the vivo V60 features an in-display fingerprint scanner and facial recognition for unlocking the device. Both methods function effectively, with the fingerprint scanner being notably fast and accurate. However, the face unlock feature may be slower in low-light conditions.

Hardware and Performance

After using the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 for the vivo V40 and V50, the vivo V60 is now powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 mobile platform, which is built on a 4nm process. This platform features one Cortex-A720 core clocked at 2.8GHz, four Cortex-A720 cores running at 2.4GHz, and three Cortex-A520 cores that can reach speeds of up to 1.8GHz. Additionally, it comes with an Adreno 722 graphics processor.

vivo V60 Performance

The performance of the vivo V60 is impressively smooth, effortlessly handling resource-intensive applications. For gaming, it provides a seamless experience and supports a wide variety of games. The device also includes features such as Game Boost mode, 4D Game Vibration, and a Vapor Chamber cooling system to enhance performance.

Compared to the vivo X200 FE, the vivo V60, along with its Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, manages thermal throttling quite well. While its surface does get warm, it is not uncomfortably hot, which is a great improvement.

The vivo V60 supports Extended RAM technology, which allows the phone's RAM to be virtually expanded using internal storage. This enables the device to utilize up to 12GB of its internal storage, resulting in a total of up to 24GB of RAM.

vivo V60 About Phone, Storage and RAM

In the Philippines, the vivo V60 is available in three variants: one with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, another with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage (which is the model I am using), and a third option with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. My 256GB unit has used 28.57GB of storage right out of the box. Unfortunately, the device does not support microSD card expansion.
