Asus unveils Transformer Prime Android tablet at AsiaD




After unveiling a teaser video at their Facebook page now Asus Chairman Johnny Shih sat down with All Things D's Walt Mossberg at the AsiaD conference in Hong Kong, and pulled out ouf his briefcase a tablet that he called the Asus Transformer Prime. The sequel to the Asus Transformer will have a formal announcement on November 9th.


The Asus Transformer Prime will be equipped with a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 chipset, 10-inch display, mini-HDMI port, a 14.5-hour battery, an SD card slot and a top lid that looks similarly to its its Zenbook, has a detachable keyboard and is just 8.3mm thin. Shih told Mossberg that the goal is to launch the device in the first quarter of 2012. He also noted that the tablet will run the new Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS.
